Clothes protect us, they warm us and we like them. They are woven, sewn, printed or tanned, and maybe they also show what we work or which color we particularly prefer: we cannot imagine everyday life without clothing. But where does it come from and how is it made? How have clothes and fashion changed and developed over time and how would we design clothes ourselves?
In this hands-on exhibition “Making Fashion”, the children look quite practically into the subject and discover answers of various questions: They slip into different roles and learn details about the functions and purpose of clothing: is it useful, smart or even life-saving? They discover different kinds of cloth, their origin, manufacturing and maintenance. Furthermore, the children can weave at a huge loom, they are able to knot, cord or tie and drape fabrics and cloth on figurines. The exhibition invites to experiment with colors, materials and shapes. Visitors can print their own designs on gym bags and present them inside the photo shooting area.
