The British Library is looking for an Exhibition Coordinator to assist the Touring Exhibitions and Partnerships Manager in the coordination, development, production and installation of a large-scale international touring exhibition as well as assisting with on site exhibitions and displays. The British Library produces two major exhibitions per year, two smaller exhibitions per year and a number of smaller displays. This is in addition to the rotation of exhibits within the Treasures Gallery and the touring exhibition programme.
Main tasks
- To produce exhibit lists for designated project
- To schedule and lead on the photography and mounting of objects for designated projects
- To assist in the appointment of contractors (transport, crating) to work on designated project
- To manage, in conjunction with the project manager for each designated project, the external companies appointed to undertake the required work, ensuring the work meets the highest standards, is completed to deadline and budget, and that on-site working is undertaken according to current Health & Safety regulations
- To manage the production of exhibition case fixtures and fixings for designated projects
- To lead on the packing of objects for international transport and to act as a courier when required.
- To assist in the proof-reading and production of texts for designated projects
- To undertake and co-ordinate picture research for all designated projects
- To assist with the commissioning and development of any AV/multimedia associated with the project
- Expected to demonstrate a willingness to take on a range of tasks and to develop new skills, as appropriate, in own or other departments/directorates to support the delivery of the Library’s services as required by line management
